Every contribution
has a place.
From the first draft to the final mix, a film is made by people with different crafts. GenMediaDB records those contributions without guessing who did what.
Credit the work actually done.
Use the film’s end credits, an official production record or a clearly documented creator statement. An upload, festival appearance or claimed profile alone does not prove a specific role.
Keep the original wording.
Standard roles help people browse across films. Unusual roles can keep their exact credited wording under the relevant department. One person can hold several roles, and several people can share a role.
Show what is known.
“Source listed” means an entry has a supporting reference. “Role reviewed” means an editor has checked the person and role. “Role unconfirmed” is an attribution awaiting a specific job; disputed entries stay visibly flagged.
Separate people from tools.
AI artists, workflow designers, performers and production companies can receive documented credits. Models and software belong in production tools; their use does not identify a human contributor or imply a rights agreement.
Add, correct or dispute a credit
- Open the film, series or episode and go to Cast & crew.
- Choose Add a credit or Correct beside an existing entry.
- Provide the credited name, role, relevant details and a supporting reference. Include a timestamp or page number in the explanation when useful.
- An editor checks the evidence and resolves the request. Submitting a request does not publish a credit.
Character names, “credited as” names and billing order are optional. Leave them blank unless documented. Series-level credits do not automatically become episode credits.
